AOM’s CONTOIL® flowmeters for new KIGAM research vessel

Aquametro Oil & Marine Korea proudly announces that it has been contracted by Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction Co., Ltd. (HHIC) in South Korea to supply CONTOIL® fuel oil meters for the new building project of Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM).

HHIC was contracted by KIGAM to build a geophysical exploration research ship with cutting-edge technology. The vessel with a length of 92 m and a width of 21 m will offer space for a crew of 50 people and will be used for researching marine geology and energy around the globe, including the polar region.

Aquametro Oil & Marine supplies 12 CONTOIL® oil flow meters VZFA ll 25 FL 130/25 as reliable and accurate fuel measurement solution for the vessel’s diesel generator engines. Our CONTOIL® oil flow meters work on the ring piston principle and feature an integrated temperature sensor for volume compensation and mass signal for fuel oil.

Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction Co., Ltd. was founded in 1937 as the first shipyard in Korea. They have accumulated extensive knowhow in building special-purpose vessels. Since then is has been a leader in the global shipbuilding and construction industry.

KIGAM was established in 1918 as the Geological Survey of Korea. It is a unique government-funded Geoscience research organization. KIGAM’s main research activities include hydrocarbon exploration, development, and production; geological and geophysical data acquisition, interpretation, and evaluation; marine geological surveys; and assessment of marine resources and CO2 geological storage.

Aquametro Oil & Marine is proud to contribute to this important future-oriented project for South Korea’s geophysical science with our high quality CONTOIL® fuel oil meters and excellent support provided by the AOM Korea team.
