Donation of Goods to the Seamen’s Mission in the Port of Rostock
This week, Aquametro once again demonstrated its solidarity with seafarers, who often spend months at sea, far from their families. At the Seamen’s Mission in the Port of Rostock, our employees Maica Brinck and Bruno Seifert handed over a donation of goods tailored specifically to the needs of the crews.
The donation included warm scarves, hats, and gloves, as well as chocolate and various toiletries—items that are often lacking during long voyages but can noticeably ease everyday life at sea.
The donation was received by the head of the Seamen’s Station, Birgit Haaks, along with pastor Edwin Becker-Wichmann, who expressed heartfelt thanks on behalf of the mission and the seafarers. Both emphasized how valuable such support initiatives are for the seafaring community and the difference they make in the daily lives of the crews.
This year, the Seamen's Mission also benefited from a new community-driven project: "Knitting in the Waiting Room." This initiative allows patients to continue knitting scarves, hats, or other small projects started by others while they wait for their appointments. Although only a few doctors from the region are participating so far, the initiative is growing steadily – and the finished knitted items are ultimately donated to charity.
With its contribution, Aquametro continues its commitment to the maritime community in Rostock and strengthens its connection to those who perform essential work at sea.
