The project carried out for the Solomon Islands Electricity Authority is a strong example for this capability. Delivering complex engineering solutions to remote locations is usually costly in terms of logistics and takes a long time to implement. However, Aquametro’s Singapore team successfully deployed, wired and commissioned a four-generator monitoring system within just three working days by leveraging a customised RMS smart system and a highly coordinated cross-border collaboration approach.

The initial challenge lay in providing reliable, centralised monitoring for four generators operating in a remote power plant. Due to the geographical isolation of the power plant and critical importance of stable power generation, the client required a solution that was precisely tailored to their operational needs. It was also essential that the system could be installed without engineers needing to travel on-site, as this would have significantly increased costs and timescales.

To address this issue, the company developed a fully customised RMS smart solution, consisting of hardware and software components. The core of the system is a specially programmed RMS Smart unit featuring a user interface designed to monitor the performance and key metrics of the four generators in real time. In addition, a pre-configured data collection junction box was provided to simplify the complex wiring process for local technicians and ensure a smoother installation.

Executing the project highlighted the effectiveness of structured remote collaboration. Rather than relying on a physical presence, Aquametro provided detailed engineering documentation, including precise technical drawings mapping out the entire wiring architecture. These were complemented by guided virtual installation sessions, during which engineers in Singapore worked closely with the local team in the Solomon Islands to explain each step of the wiring process and ensure the accuracy of every connection. Once the hardware installation was complete, secure remote access was established, enabling the Singapore team to connect directly to the local system, perform diagnostics and finalise the commissioning of the customised interface and programming.

Due to this well-coordinated approach, the entire project, from the start of guided installation to the final system handover, was completed in exactly three working days. The Solomon Islands Electricity Authority now has full real-time visibility of its remote power plant, proving that, with the right combination of the customised technology and effective remote collaboration, geographical distance need not limit the speed and quality of system integration.
